2026 YAM FLAG DESIGN CONTEST

*Lydia's flag will hang at the Indiana Statehouse in March for our Youth Art Month opening ceremony, but will then travel to the NAEA Convention in March at the Youth Art Month Museum.

Youth Art Month State House Celebration Information

YAM Award Ceremony will be Sunday, March 1st!

Eligibility: Open to all students of AEAI members in grades K-12. Participating art educators must be members of AEAI to participate! Join or renew today!
Submissions: Works must be two-dimensional and no larger than 12X18" (includes matting).
 
Categories: There will be four categories
  • Lower Elementary (K-2)
  • Upper Elementary (3-5)
  • Middle School (6-8)
  • High School (9-12)
Prizes & Awards: This year, BLICK Art Materials has donated prizes from student category winners & their teachers. 

  • Student winners will receive a $100 BLICK gift card plus surprise art supplies & their teachers receive a $300 BLICK gift card with additional art supplies. 
  • The grand prize winner will receive a $500 BLICK gift card & their teacher a $1000 BLICK gift card along with surprise art supplies box!

Presentation: Matte or mount work on lightweight matte or Bristol board. Do not use colored paper, foam core, canvas stretchers, or frames. 
Registration: Teachers must register to the show student work by 2/10/26
Labels for Artwork: The official YAM label is required on each piece of artwork. Artwork without the official label will not be displayed. Please attach the student portion of the label (printed on white paper) to front lower right corner of each mat.
Teacher Artwork Drop Off & Set-Up: ARTWORK MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE THE MARCH 2nd SET UP Artwork received after set-up will not be displayed.

This year, Blick Art Materials has donated prizes from student category winners & their teachers. 
Student winners & teachers will receive an art supply bundle & gift card valued at $300. Grand student winner will receive a $500 gift card & their teacher $1000 gift card along with a large bundle of art supplies.
This is a juried art show. Awarded student and their teacher will receive a prize

A: Yes. You can submit up to 5 works (as part of your schools allotment) from your special group for DISPLAY ONLY!
