It’s time to nominate an amazing art teacher!
There are many great art teachers in Indiana, and AEAI wants to recognize their contributions to the children of Indiana. Please take a few minutes to nominate an art teacher you know who makes a difference in the lives of children. Nominations for 2013 are due June 15. With over 1,000 students, parents, and teachers in attendance, our Youth Art Month Statehouse Celebration on March 3rd was a huge hit! Thank you to everyone who came and helped us to celebrate another successful statehouse celebration. Our keynote speaker Glenda Ritz, State Superintendent of Schools spoke of her continued support for arts education and officially proclaimed March 3rd as Youth Art Day in Indiana. The Indiana Coalition For the Arts will hold their annual Arts Advocacy Day at the Indiana State Capitol on February 14th. Check out our advocacy page and/or our advocacy blog for more information. Please consider joining us and other arts advocates as we communicate the importance of fine arts experience in our schools and in our communities to members of the Indiana General Assembly.

You can no longer register for the convention online. If you would like to attend the convention but have not registered yet, you can either download the registration form here, print and mail it in or register on site at the conference in Columbus. Here is a list of things to think about as you are gathering what you need and preparing to come to Columbus:

Youth Art Month Flag Competition 2013
Don’t wait until March to begin your celebration of Youth Art Month! Have your students complete entries for the YAM Flag Design contest. Schools throughout the U.S. are holding flag design competitions. Each state will select a design, which will be made into a flag and flown in Washington, DC during March, which is celebrated as Youth Art Month. New this year - the flag competition is open to all students in grades K-12 (limit four entries per teacher). Flag designs will be voted on at the annual convention in November.
